Softball Recap: Glenbard West Now 10-1 over Last 11 Games

Glenbard West took a ten-run defeat the last time they faced off against Oak Park-River Forest, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Hilltoppers skirted past the Huskies 4-2. For the Hilltoppers, this counts as revenge for the 17-7 victory the Huskies walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

Olivia Salerno spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Ainslie Bobroff was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

Glenbard West is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. As for Oak Park-River Forest, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 18-6.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Glenbard West is set to face off against their familiar foe Downers Grove North at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Hilltoppers 4, the Trojans 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Oak Park-River Forest will challenge rival Proviso West at 4:45 p.m. on Friday.
