Basketball Recap: Tara Deese's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Piedmont over West Stanly

Piedmont lost against West Stanly back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Piedmont Panthers fell just short of the West Stanly Colts by a score of 66-63. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (61), the Panthers still had to take the loss.

Several Panthers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tara Deese, who went 5-for-10 on her way to 13 points. Landry Smith was another key player, putting up seven points and ten boards.

Even though they lost, Piedmont smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in four consecutive games.

Piedmont's loss dropped their record down to 9-14. As for West Stanly, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-10.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Piedmont beat West Stanly by a score of 54-41 on Tuesday.
