The Desert Oasis Diamondbacks will venture away from home to take on the Cheyenne Desert Shields at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. Desert Oasis is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 16.9 runs per game this season.

While Desert Oasis' victory against Bonanza wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Diamondbacks sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-7 win over the Bengals on Tuesday. Surprisingly, this marked the fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor in this series.

Nolly Newbry was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Another player making a difference was Savannah Slack, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Meanwhile, Cheyenne came up short against Faith Lutheran on Monday, falling 17-2. The loss continues a trend for the Desert Shields in their meetings with the Crusaders: they've now lost four in a row.

Cheyenne's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6-1. As for Desert Oasis, their victory bumped their record up to 7-1.

Cheyenne's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Desert Oasis has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.6 hits per game. It's a different story for Cheyenne, though, as they've been averaging 9.8 hits. Given Desert Oasis' sizable advantage in that area, the Desert Shields will need to find a way to close that gap.

Desert Oasis got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in February against Cheyenne by a conclusive 21-1 score. Do the Diamondbacks have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Desert Shields turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
