The Dupo Tigers will take on the Wesclin Warriors at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Dupo is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.
Dupo will bounce into Wednesday's matchup after beating New Athens, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Tigers never let the Yellow Jackets get on the board and left with a 9-0 victory on Tuesday. The win was some much needed relief for the Tigers as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Not much got past Addison Thompson, who gave up just four hits and racked up seven Ks to keep New Athens off the board. Thompson has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kaylyn Woods, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kylie Kloess, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Dupo kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last five times Wesclin and Okawville have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Tuesday. The Warriors took a 7-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rockets.
Maria Kahrhoff was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and six unearned) runs off nine hits. Kahrhoff was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Kahrhoff wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ariana Middleton, who went 2-for-3 with one double.
Wesclin's defeat dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Dupo, their victory bumped their record up to 5-8.
Wesclin's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Dupo hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .319. It's a different story for Wesclin, though, as they've only averaged .257. Will they be able to contain Dupo's hitters?
Dupo suffered a grim 10-4 defeat to Wesclin in their previous meeting back in April of 2023. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
