Baseball Recap: Pickens Academy Comes Up Short

After flying high against Aliceville on Thursday, Pickens Academy came back down to earth. Pickens Academy fell just short of the Hubbertville Lions by a score of 6-5 on Friday.

Tyde Moore was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out nine batters over 5.2 innings while giving up four earned runs off four hits. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Hudson Pennington was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Braden Banks, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Pickens Academy's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-9. As for Hubbertville, they pushed their record up to 6-6 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home.

Coming up, Pickens Academy will welcome Holy Spirit Catholic at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
