Baseball Recap: Simsboro Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Franklin Parish, Simsboro was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Doyline Panthers, sneaking past 4-3. This was a revenge game for the Tigers: when they faced off against the Panthers back in February, they had to take a 7-4 defeat.

Chris Harrell made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Chris Stevens, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-4. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryson Yarborough, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-3.

Simsboro now has a winning record of 10-9-1. As for Doyline, they now have a losing record of 5-6.

Coming up, Simsboro will take on Maurepas at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Doyline, they will challenge North Webster at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
