Soccer Game Preview: Permian vs. Midland Legacy

The Permian Panthers will venture away from home to face off against the Midland Legacy Rebels at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Permian is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games.

It was a proper cat-fight when Permian duked it out with San Angelo Central on Friday. Permian won by a goal and slipped past San Angelo Central 1-0. That's two games straight that the Panthers have won by just one goal.

Meanwhile, while it was all tied up 1-1 at halftime, Midland Legacy was not quite Frenship's equal in the second half on Friday. They fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 3-2. While losing is never fun, the Rebels can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 410th, while the Tigers are ranked 154th).

Permian's victory bumped their record up to 8-2-5. As for Midland Legacy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-6-2.

Permian beat Midland Legacy by a goal when the teams last played back in February of 2024, winning 1-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Permian since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
