Basketball Recap: Amite Skates Past Houma Christian with Ease

It's playoff time, and Amite had no trouble coming through when it counted. They breezed past Houma Christian to the tune of 59-21 on Thursday. Given Amite's advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 141st, while Houma Christian is ranked 300th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Amite to victory, but perhaps none more so than Curtissiyah Jenkins, who posted 18 points. Jenkins' big performance that morning made it eight games in a row in which she has scored at least 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayla Toefield, who earned 17 points.

The victory made it two in a row for Amite and bumps their season record up to 12-16. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 17.5 points over those games. As for Houma Christian, they now have a losing record of 7-8.

Amite has already played their next contest, a 55-37 defeat against Northlake Christian on the 24th. Houma Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
