Softball Recap: Marion County's Luck Changes for the Better on Tuesday

Marion County had to endure an eight-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. Everything went their way against the Campbellsville Eagles on Tuesday as they made off with a 15-5 victory. That's more bragging rights for the Knights, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Eleanor Stewart spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Marion County got a massive performance out of Addison Garrett, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and one double. Those two stolen bases gave Garrett a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kendall Thompson, who went 1-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Marion County's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 4-13. As for Campbellsville, they dropped their record down to 0-13 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight at home.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Marion County will welcome Elizabethtown at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Campbellsville, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Glasgow at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
