Basketball Recap: DC International Takes a Loss

DC International and KIPP DC Legacy College Prep squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but DC International had to settle for second. They were dealt a 65-36 defeat at the hands of the KIPP DC Legacy College Prep Bulldogs. The defensive woes were uncharacteristic for the Dragons, who until this game were averaging 26.57 points allowed.

Despite the loss, DC International saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Lilah Brown dropped a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Brown also set a new season-high mark in steals with six.

Even though they lost, DC International smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as KIPP DC Legacy College Prep only pulled down two offensive boards.

KIPP DC Legacy College Prep was led to victory by Amari Young and Marjae Robinson. Young posted 24 points, while Robinson earned 24 points. Young's evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Diara Nichols, who had five points and five blocks.

DC International's defeat dropped their record down to 12-11. As for KIPP DC Legacy College Prep, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 8-10 record this season.

DC International does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for KIPP DC Legacy College Prep, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 48-19 loss against SEED DC on the 15th.
