Basketball Game Preview: Mira Mesa Marauders vs. Madison Warhawks

The Mira Mesa Marauders will venture away from home to face off against the Madison Warhawks at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Madison took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Mira Mesa, who comes in off a win.

Mira Mesa will head into Tuesday's contest having proved themselves against Scripps Ranch: Mira Mesa took a 21-point defeat the last time they faced off against Scripps Ranch, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Mira Mesa narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Scripps Ranch 47-44. Given the Marauders' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 127th, while the Falcons are ranked 434th), the result on Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Madison unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Tuesday. They lost 69-49 to Mission Bay. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Warhawks have suffered since November 29, 2024.

Madison's defeat dropped their record down to 16-7. As for Mira Mesa, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 19-3.

Mira Mesa couldn't quite finish off Madison when the teams last played on January 10th and fell 55-53. Can Mira Mesa avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
