After a string of three wins, Cedar Valley's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a 9-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Salem Hills Skyhawks.
Catharina Underwood was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. Underwood has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive pitching appearances. Underwood was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Ellie Leatham was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with a home run, two runs, and two RBI. Alexis Jenson was another key contributor, going 3-for-4 with a stolen base and two RBI.
Like Cedar Valley, Salem Hills also got a great game from a two-way player: Keyana Murray.
