State College and Central Dauphin are an even 5-5 against one another since October of 2015, but not for long. The Little Lions are taking a road trip to take on the Rams at 7:06 p.m. on Friday. State College will be strutting in after a victory while Central Dauphin will be coming in after a loss.
State College is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Chambersburg: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Little Lions blew the Trojans out of the water with a 40-0 final score. The Little Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by 27 points or more this season.
A big part of State College's win came down to the chemistry between Connor Kulka and his top target Hank Lustig. Kulka threw for 276 yards and four TDs while Lustig picked up 123 receiving yards and three touchdowns. A healthy portion of Kulka's aerial production (98 yards to be exact) also went to Anderson Aj Fry, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.
State College didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Rowan Walker, Aj Fry, and Michael Yourey picked up one apiece. Trayce Brennan was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making nine total tackles (3.0 for loss).
Meanwhile, Central Dauphin might've scored the first points on Friday, but it was Cumberland Valley who claimed the real prize. The Rams fell 24-15 to the Eagles. The defeat continues a trend for the Rams in their meetings with the Eagles: they've now lost five in a row.
The victory made it two in a row for State College and bumps their season record up to 4-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 14 points in those games. As for Central Dauphin, they now have a losing record of 2-3.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's contest: State College has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 396.6 total yards per game. It's a different story for Central Dauphin, though, as they've been averaging only 234.4 total yards. Will State College be able to march up the field at their leisure again, or will the Rams flip the script?
State College strolled past Central Dauphin in their previous meeting back in September of 2024 by a score of 24-7. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Little Lions since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
