Baseball Game Preview: Polytech Panthers vs. Cape Henlopen

Polytech is 2-7 against Cape Henlopen since April of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Panthers will venture away from home to square off against Cape Henlopen at 4:15 p.m. Cape Henlopen took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Polytech, who comes in off a win.

On Thursday, Polytech sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over Seaford.

Polytech secured the victory behind a pair of hitters. One of them was Deacon Herring, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run. Ethan Garcia also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Meanwhile, Cape Henlopen faced Lake Forest in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. Cape Henlopen fell just short of Lake Forest by a score of 2-1.

Polytech's win bumped their record up to 4-7. As for Cape Henlopen, their loss dropped their record down to 9-4.

Polytech might still be hurting after the 11-3 defeat they got from Cape Henlopen when the teams last played back in May of 2025. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
