Cibola faced Sandia in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. Cibola came out on top against Sandia by a score of 8-3. This was a revenge game for the Cougars: when they faced off against the Matadors on March 4th, they had to take a 12-2 defeat.

Daniel Kean and Isaac Harvey did most of the damage at the plate: Kean scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Harvey went 1-for-3 with one home run. That stolen base marked the first that Kean snagged this season. Another player making a difference was Jacob Escobedo, who scored a run while going 3-for-3.

Cibola has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. The loss snapped Sandia's winning streak at eight games and leaves them with a 11-2 record.

Cibola has already played their next game, a 17-7 win against Del Norte on the 25th. As for Sandia, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 17-3 victory against Valley on the 25th.
