Baseball Game Preview: Maxwell Panthers vs. Willows Honkers

The Maxwell Panthers are taking a road trip to face off against the Willows Honkers at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. Maxwell will be strutting in after a victory while Willows will be coming in after a defeat.

Maxwell picked up another tournament win on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Anderson with a sharp 23-1 win.

Alex Krug was incredible, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with four RBI and two runs. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Wyatt Roach, who went 1-for-4 with four RBI and two runs.

Maxwell always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .615. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Anderson only posted an OBP of .312.

Meanwhile, Willows was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 13-6 to Los Molinos. On the bright side, the six- run performance marked the Honkers' highest-scoring game to date.

Maxwell now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Willows, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-5.

Maxwell got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in May of 2025 against Willows by a conclusive 6-0 score. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Honkers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
