Softball Recap: Miami Country Day Now 3-1 over Last Four Games

Miami Country Day proved they can win big on Monday (they won by ten) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart Cyclones a 1-0 shutout. This was a revenge game for the Spartans: when they faced off against the Cyclones two weeks ago, they had to take a 5-2 defeat.

Not much got past Collins Ames, who gave up just a hit and racked up 13 Ks to keep Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart off the board. Ames has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Miami Country Day saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sharleah Lapaix, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

Miami Country Day is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. As for Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart, the loss snapped their winning streak at eight games and leaves them with a 12-4 record.

Looking ahead, Miami Country Day will host Miami Springs at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Spartans are facing the Golden Hawks at the right time seeing as the Golden Hawks are stuck on a seven-game losing streak. Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
