Basketball Recap: Cook Takes a Loss

Cook was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They took a blow against the Tift County Blue Devils, falling 48-20. The Hornets were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 27-7.

Cook's loss came despite strong showings from Tucker Rountree and Ryan Thompson J.R.. Rountree almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 13 rebounds, while Thompson J.R. posted ten points and three steals. Rountree is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last five games he's played.

Among those leading the charge was Kaden Lawson, who made all 7 shots he took for 15 points and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Cordell Nelson, who put up six points along with six rebounds and four blocks.

Cook's defeat dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Tift County, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-3.

Cook didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 73-37 loss against Tattnall County on the 4th. As for Tift County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 53-37 defeat against Lowndes on the 4th.
