Volleyball Recap: Eaton Rapids Greyhounds vs. Lansing Catholic Cougars
Eaton Rapids was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Lansing Catholic Cougars. The Greyhounds were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cougars apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.
Eaton Rapids wouldn't go down easily and took Lansing Catholic into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking eight-point loss. The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 25-23, 27-29, 22-25, 15-7.
Abigail Hoag paced Eaton Rapids' offense, picking up 21 kills. Hoag got some help from Avah Vozar and her 34 assists. Finally, Anna Steffen kept Eaton Rapids' defense grounded, leading the team with three blocks.
Eaton Rapids' defeat dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Lansing Catholic, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 12-0-1.
Coincidentally, Eaton Rapids and Lansing Catholic will both be playing Portland the next time they take the court. The Greyhounds will host the Raiders at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, while the Cougars will head out to face them at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
