Softball Game Preview: Fox Lane Foxes vs. Somers Tuskers

The Fox Lane Foxes will square off against the Somers Tuskers at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Fox Lane 3.4, Somers 2.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Fox Lane's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Monday's struggle, when White Plains hitters got past them. The Foxes lost 12-0 to the Tigers on Monday. The loss continues a trend for the Foxes in their meetings with the Tigers: they've now lost eight in a row.

Meanwhile, Somers can bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Walter Panas, sneaking past 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Tuskers have posted since April 8th.

Emily Boyle spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on one hit and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Julia Peanamanda and Katie Cole did most of the damage at the plate: Peanamanda went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, one triple, and one run, while Cole got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four stolen bases and one run. Those three stolen bases gave Peanamanda a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Victoria Morel, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Fox Lane's defeat dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Somers, their win bumped their record up to 9-4.

Fox Lane was able to grind out a solid victory over Somers when the teams last played back in April of 2024, winning 6-3. Will the Foxes repeat their success, or do the Tuskers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
