            Softball Recap: Batavia Bulldogs vs. Benet Academy Redwings        
        
		
        
        
            Batavia extended their losing streak  to five  on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 8-25 in the process. They came up short against  the Benet Academy Redwings, falling  14-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Redwings this season, as they also lost their prior matchup  13-3  on Saturday.
As for Benet Academy, they have  been performing  well recently as they've  won nine of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 16-17 record  this season. The  victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 9.5 runs over those games.
For Benet Academy's part,  Gianna Cunningham made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she  didn't allow a single  earned run and  allowed only two  hits over five innings pitched. Cunningham has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't  given up  more than two  walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box,  going 1-for-4 with one  run, one  double,  and one  RBI.
 In other batting news, Benet Academy got a  massive  performance out of  Hannah Baer, who  went 3-for-4 with three  runs and two  RBI. Another player making a difference was  Angela Horejs, who  went 2-for-4 with two  runs, one  triple,  and two  RBI.
As of now, neither Batavia nor Benet Academy have any future games scheduled.
