Football Game Preview: Manassas Tigers vs. Oakhaven Hawks

The Manassas Tigers will challenge the Oakhaven Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with five losses in a row, Manassas turned things around against Booker T. Washington on Friday. They secured a 26-20 W over the Warriors. The Tigers' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Meanwhile, Oakhaven got the win against KIPP Collegiate on Friday by a conclusive 40-20. Considering the Hawks have won four games by more than 19 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Manassas better keep an eye on Gregory Walls. He was instrumental in Oakhaven's win, rushing for 171 yards and two scores while picking up 10.7 yards per carry. With that strong performance, Walls is now averaging an impressive 108.6 rushing yards per game.

Oakhaven's run defense was locked in: KIPP Collegiate could only muster 3.4 yards per carry. The team can thank Lequinton Montgomery for the heroic effort on defense: he. Oakhaven didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 11.8.

Oakhaven's defense didn't let the opposing QB, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for three sacks. Leading the way was Montgomery with two.

Manassas' victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 2-6. As for Oakhaven, their win bumped their record up to 5-3.

Manassas took a serious blow against Oakhaven in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, falling 50-0. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
