Basketball Recap: Lamar Texans vs. Bellaire Cardinals

Lamar lost against Bellaire back in February and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Lamar Texans took a 55-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bellaire Cardinals. While losing is never fun, the Texans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 330th, while the Cardinals are ranked 62nd).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Bellaire to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ejypt Gibbs, who posted ten points and four steals. Gibbs is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Anthony Andrews, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds.

Lamar's defeat dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Bellaire, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-6.

Lamar wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 67-64 win against Wheatley on the 21st. As for Bellaire, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 57-51 victory against Yates on the 21st.
