Baseball Game Preview: Greenwood Eagles vs. Greenville Red Raiders

Greenwood has gone 9-1 against Greenville recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Eagles are taking a road trip to square off against the Red Raiders at 6:30 p.m. Greenwood will be strutting in after a win while Greenville will be coming in after a loss.

Greenwood gave up the first runs on Wednesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They came out on top against North Augusta by a score of 8-3. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Eagles.

Sam Benjamin looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Bentley Setzler was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Will Bice, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Greenwood kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.6 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 9.

Meanwhile, Greenville lost 13-3 to Greenwood on Tuesday. The Red Raiders have struggled against the Eagles recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

The victory got Greenwood back to even at 7-7. As for Greenville, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-12.

Everything went Greenwood's way against Greenville when the teams last played on Tuesday, as Greenwood made off with a 13-3 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
