Recap: Mountain Vista Golden Eagles vs. Denver South Ravens
The Mountain Vista Golden Eagles's six-game losing streak came to an end on Saturday. They came out on top against Denver South by a score of 66-56. The win was just what Mountain Vista needed coming off of a 84-58 defeat in their prior matchup.
Mountain Vista's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kennedy Spellman led the charge by scoring 24 points along with seven assists and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kiarra Spellman, who scored 18 points along with six steals.
Several Ravens players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Nevaeh Millard, who scored 17 points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Ka'Niya (KJ) Anderson, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 14 rebounds.
Mountain Vista's victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-9. As for Denver South, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-8 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mountain Vista will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Legend at 5:30 p.m. on January 30th. As for Denver South, they will take on Far Northeast W at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Far Northeast W will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 283rd, while Denver South is ranked 81st).
