Softball Game Preview: Heritage Christian Warriors vs. Valley Christian Defenders

The Heritage Christian Warriors will head out to square off against the Valley Christian Defenders at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Valley Christian took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Heritage Christian, who comes in off a win.

On Tuesday, Heritage Christian made easy work of Village Christian and carried off an 8-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won seven contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Brooklyn Mireles made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Tatum Tassio was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Valley Christian suffered their biggest loss since February 28, 2024 on Tuesday. They lost 7-1 to California.

The win made it two in a row for Heritage Christian and bumps their season record up to 11-4. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Valley Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-4-1.

Thursday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Heritage Christian has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .447. However, it's not like Valley Christian struggles in that department as they've averaged .461. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Heritage Christian couldn't quite get it done against Valley Christian in their previous matchup on April 1st as they fell 13-9. Can the Warriors avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
