Football Recap: Xavier Rosas and Austin Little Pace Westview Defense

Westview was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss dating back to last season. They took a 14-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Glendale Cardinals. Despite 91 more yards than the Cardinals, the Knights couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.

Even if they lost, Westview's defense still kept up the pressure with five sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Xavier Rosas and Austin Little, who racked up four sacks between them.

A big part of Glendale's victory came down to the chemistry between Michael Anguiano and his top target Santiago Navarrette. Anguiano threw for 168 yards and two touchdowns while Navarrette picked up 106 receiving yards and a pair of scores. Navarrette showed off some serious burst, lighting up the secondary with a catch for 58 yards.

Westview's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Glendale, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.

Looking ahead, Westview will be playing at home against Lee Williams at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Volunteers' defense has only allowed 9.2 points per game this season, so the Knights' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Glendale, they will head out on the road to challenge Independence at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Cardinals will be up against the Patriots' rather soft defense (which has allowed 46.8 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
