Baseball Game Preview: Myrtle Hawks vs. Falkner Eagles

For the second straight game, Myrtle will face off against Falkner. It'll be a Battle of the Birds when Myrtle Hawks face off against Falkner Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Myrtle is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.9 runs per game this season.

On Tuesday, Myrtle needed a bit of extra time to put away Falkner. They came out on top against the Eagles by a score of 8-4. The win was familiar territory for the Hawks, who have now won three contests in a row.

Cade Brown made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with two RBI and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Ray Moody was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Jaxon Robbins, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-5.

Myrtle kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Falkner only managed eight hits.

Myrtle's victory bumped their record up to 16-6. As for Falkner, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 7-1 and their overall record down to 16-6.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Myrtle has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Falkner struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
