Basketball Recap: Chonci Miller Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Landrum

Landrum typically has all the answers at home, but on Tuesday High Point Academy proved too difficult a challenge. They strolled past the Landrum Cardinals with points to spare, taking the game 88-73. The Grizzlies pushed the score to 73-42 by the end of the third, a deficit the Cardinals cut but never quite recovered from.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead High Point Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Chonci Miller, who went 10-for-12 on his way to 23 points and five rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Miller a new career-high in assists (four). Another player making a difference was J'Sean Sanders, who dropped a double-double with 19 points and ten boards.

High Point Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 28 assists. They racked up 13 more assists than Landrum's also-impressive total of 15.

Despite the loss, Landrum still got an impressive performance from Benett Edwards, who went 10-for-14 en route to 25 points along with six assists and five rebounds. Edwards is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last seven games he's played. Cooper Tidwell was another key player, going 6-for-14 to rack up 19 points.

The win made it two in a row for High Point Academy and bumps their season record up to 22-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 79.5 points over those games. As for Landrum, their defeat dropped their record down to 18-7.

High Point Academy has already played their next match (against Blacksburg), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Landrum, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 76-40 victory against Greenville Tech Charter on the 13th.
