Volleyball Recap: Greece Athena Comes Up Short

Greece Athena lost against Irondequoit back in September and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Trojans came up short against the Eagles, falling 3-0.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 25-16, 25-11.

Leading Irondequoit to victory were Leah Greco and Gia Meeks. Greco had nine digs, while Meeks had 12 digs and ten kills. That's the most digs Meeks has posted over her last 12 contests. Lainie Hetherington also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Greece Athena dropped their record down to 1-10 with the loss, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Irondequoit, they are on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 19 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-5-3 record this season.

Greece Athena will face off against Churchville-Chili at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Irondequoit, they will square off against Brighton at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
