Basketball Recap: Central Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Victory

Central waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They enjoyed a cozy 73-55 victory over the Cheraw Braves. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 68-61 back in January.

Central's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Caden Edmond, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. Edmond has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more boards the last 11 times he's played. Jordan Crowder was another key player, putting up 15 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.

When it comes to explaining why Cheraw lost, don't look at De'Shaun Drake. Despite the final result, he went 7 of 12 on his way to 16 points in addition to seven assists and seven boards. What's more, Drake also posted a 50% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was TJ Ford, who went 7 for 17 to rack up 16 points and five rebounds.

Central's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.3 points over those games. As for Cheraw, their loss dropped their record down to 9-12.

Central didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 69-41 victory against Buford on the 7th. As for Cheraw, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 48-45 defeat against Chesterfield on the 7th.
