Soccer Game Preview: Foothill Tech vs. Cate

The Foothill Tech Dragons will face off against the Cate Rams at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Foothill Tech fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Dunn on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Earwigs by a score of 3-2. While losing is never fun, the Dragons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 736th, while the Earwigs are ranked 286th).

Meanwhile, Cate put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They were the clear victor by a 7-2 margin over Dunn. Considering the Rams have won ten contests by more than three goals this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Cate's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-0. As for Foothill Tech, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-6.

Foothill Tech might still be hurting after the 8-2 loss they got from Cate in their previous meeting back in December of 2024. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Foothill Tech was down 5-1.
