Baseball Recap: Rosman Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Rosman's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They had just enough and edged out the Murphy Bulldogs 6-5. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Tigers as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Kreed Smith made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Rosman is undefeated when Smith allowsthree or fewer earned runs, but 1-8 otherwise. Smith was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He also brought in an RBI, marking his first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Tyler Rollins, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Quintin Forbes, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.

Rosman's record is now 4-8. As for Murphy, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rosman will square off against Madison at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Murphy, they will take on Rabun Gap-Nacoochee at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
