Basketball Recap: Wayne City Comes Up Short

Wayne City was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They fell 57-44 to the Fairfield Mules. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Indians of the 66-46 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2024.

Despite the defeat, Wayne City saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Rhyver Tibbs went 7 for 8 en route to 15 points and seven rebounds. The dominant performance gave Tibbs a new career-high in points. James Walker was another key player, going 6 of 15 on his way to 12 points.

Wayne City's loss dropped their record down to 7-15. As for Fairfield, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-10.

Wayne City has already played their next match (against Flora), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Fairfield will square off against Eldorado at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
