Softball Recap: Monmouth United Takes a Loss

Monmouth United extended their losing streak to 13 on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 4-27 in the process. They came up short against the Biggsville West Central Heat, falling 19-0. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Heat this season, with their most recent defeat being a 16-0 loss back in April.

As for Biggsville West Central, they have been performing well recently as they've won 22 of their last 26 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 29-6 record this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 22 matches by six runs or more this season.

For Biggsville West Central's part, Addie Seitz and Miley Stimpson made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Seitz tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Stimpson tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 17 consecutive appearances. At the plate, Seitz went 3-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run, while Stimpson went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That stolen base marked the first that Stimpson has snagged this season.

In other batting news, Addy Burrell and Lauren Winters did most of the damage at the plate: Burrell went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI and two runs, while Winters went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Those four RBI gave Burrell a new career-high. Lily Higgins was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Monmouth United does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Biggsville West Central, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 6-0 victory against Abingdon/Avon on the 23rd.
