Basketball Recap: Natchez Comes Up Short

Natchez has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 33-31 heartbreaker at the hands of the North Pike Jaguars. Sadly, that's the third time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 46-44 back in January.

When it comes to explaining why Natchez lost on Tuesday, don't look at RONIYA ELLIS. Despite the final result, she went 8 of 15 on her way to 21 points and four steals. The contest was ELLIS's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was CALEAH KENNEDY, who posted four points in addition to six boards and three blocks.

North Pike found their leader in sophomore Kadence Jordan, who went 6 for 12 en route to 15 points and six rebounds. De'Asia Hudson was another key player, putting up eight points along with five boards and three steals.

Natchez's defeat dropped their record down to 18-9. As for North Pike, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 21-5 record this season.

Natchez does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for North Pike, they will take on Florence at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Florence will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something North Pike surely won't give up without a fight.
