Softball Recap: Westfall Mustangs vs. Southeastern Panthers
Westfall had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 11-run drubbing they dealt Southeastern on Thursday. Adrina Hicks was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Anna Snyder was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Logan McNeal, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs.
Westfall was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .517. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive games.
