Volleyball Preview: Tongue River Eagles vs. Big Horn Rams
Tongue River hasn't had much luck against Big Horn recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Tongue River Eagles will face off against the Big Horn Rams at 7:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Tongue River comes in on four and Big Horn on five.
Last Saturday, everything went Tongue River's way against Moorcroft as Tongue River made off with a 3-0 victory.
While Tongue River might've won, it sure wasn't easy: Moorcroft scored at least 16 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-13, 25-15, 25-16.
Meanwhile, Big Horn faced Natrona County in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. Big Horn blew past Natrona County 3-0.
While Big Horn won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the third set they played. The final score came out to 25-17, 25-20, 25-23.
Big Horn can attribute much of their success to Mckena Bales, who had nine digs, and Leah Phillips, who had five kills, four digs, and two aces. What's more, Bales also racked up no blocks, the mostshe's had in her last three matches.
Big Horn was lethal from the service line and finished the game with ten aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least eight aces in five consecutive games.
Tongue River has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 15 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 19-2-4 record this season. As for Big Horn, they pushed their record up to 21-9 with the win, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season.
