Baseball Recap: Round Valley Now 5-1 over Last Six Games

Round Valley's game on Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They never let the Valley Pirates get on the board and left with a 16-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Elks, who have now won six matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Lane Hill made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Jeffery Cochran was a standout: he fired off two home runs and six RBI while going 3-for-4. Those two home runs gave him a new career-high. JJ Logan was another key player, scoring four runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-3.

Round Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Round Valley is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Valley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-5.

Looking ahead, Round Valley will challenge Hopi at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Valley, they will face off against Greyhills Academy at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Knights have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.67 runs per game on average), something the Pirates will no doubt try to take advantage of.
