Baseball Recap: Sanford Comes Up Short

Sanford couldn't beat Ignacio on Saturday even though they stacked four runs on them in the second inning. The Mustangs came up short against the Bobcats, falling 27-7. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bobcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-4 on Saturday.

Rylan Mortensen was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one home run and four RBI. He has become a key player for Sanford: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least three RBI, but 5-6 otherwise.

Sanford's defeat dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Ignacio, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sanford will square off against Hoehne at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Ignacio, they will take on Pagosa Springs at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
