Soccer Game Preview: Screven County vs. Claxton

The Screven County Gamecocks will square off against the Claxton Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Screven County is coming into the game hot, having won their last eight games.

Screven County's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They put the hurt on McIntosh County Academy with a sharp 10-0 win. Screven County's defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last four contests.

Meanwhile, Claxton made easy work of McIntosh County Academy on Tuesday and carried off a 10-0 victory. It was an even better day for Izabelle Gonzales as she scored five goals for her team.

Screven County pushed their record up to 10-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those four games. As for Claxton, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-5 record this season.

Screven County took their win against Claxton in their previous meeting on March 7th by a conclusive 8-1. In that contest, Screven County amassed a halftime lead of 4-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
