Gaston Day had already won six in a row dating back to last season and they went ahead and made it seven on Friday. They came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Carmel Christian Cougars. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Spartans also won the last time the pair played back in September of 2023.

The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Gaston Day who won the one that mattered. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 22-25, 25-19, 21-25, 15-1.

Gaston Day's victory bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Carmel Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gaston Day will venture away from home to square off against Hickory Grove Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Spartans are facing the Lions at the right time seeing as the Lions are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Carmel Christian, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Charlotte Country Day School at 5:00 p.m. on September 3.
