Soccer Game Preview: Mitchell vs. Owen

Mitchell is 0-10 against Owen since April of 2021 but things could change on Monday. The Mountaineers will head out on the road to square off against the Warhorses at 6:00 p.m. Mitchell has given up an average of 6.9 goals per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Mitchell fell victim to Polk County and their airtight defense on Wednesday. They lost 6-0 to the Wolverines. While losing is never fun, Mitchell can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 460th, while Polk County are ranked 95th).

Meanwhile, after failing to score in their last contest, Owen made sure to put some goals up on the board against Avery County on Friday. They blew past the Vikings 6-1. Owen have beaten Avery County the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest Avery County has come to flipping the script.

Owen hit Avery County with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Carlee Grace Stewart (3), Sadie Lyda (2), and Vallie Ward.

Mitchell's loss dropped their record down to 0-8-1. As for Owen, the win got them back to even at 6-6-1.

Mitchell might still be hurting after the 9-0 defeat they got from Owen in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Mountaineers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
