Basketball Recap: High Island Takes a Loss

High Island was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were dealt a 50-9 loss at the hands of the First Baptist Christian Warriors. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cardinals of the 58-9 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2024.

High Island's loss dropped their record down to 3-10. As for First Baptist Christian, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-4.

High Island didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 47-17 defeat against Cambridge on the 12th. As for First Baptist Christian, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Westbury Christian at 7:30 p.m. on January 9, 2026.
