Football Recap: Richton Comes Up Short

Richton extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 4-5. They came up short against the Taylorsville Tartars, falling 38-12. The Rebels were down 32-6 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Although Richton took the loss, they still got scores from Tykil Hinton and Braylon Greene.

As for Taylorsville, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 5-4. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to yards per carry: they averaged an imposing 11.98 yards per carry in those games compared to only 2.83 in the others.

Tayshawn Scott produced another solid performance rushing for 175 yards and four scores while picking up 10.9 yards per carry. Those 175 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Karryon Phillips, who rushed for 103 yards and one touchdown on only six carries.

Richton didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 32-8 victory against Newton on the 30th. As for Taylorsville, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 32-7 win against Lumberton on the 30th.
