Baseball Recap: Hooker Wins Going Away Against Guymon

Hooker never let their opponents score on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Guymon Tigers as they made off with a 7-0 victory. Considering the Bulldogs have won four contests by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Guymon's batters probably weren't too happy with Hunter Ray, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 14 Ks (he gave up a single walk). Ray has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Justin Palacios was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Gunnar Martens was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

The win made it two in a row for Hooker and bumps their season record up to 5-2. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 0 runs in those games. As for Guymon, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-15 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hooker will square off against Laverne at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Guymon, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Marshall at 4:00 p.m. The Tigers are facing the Bears at the right time seeing as the Bears are stuck on a 17-game losing streak.
