Softball Recap: Casteel Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Casteel came into Thursday's match having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They walked away with a 7-3 win over the Chandler Wolves on Thursday. The game was the first time the Colts have beaten the Wolves on their field since April 1, 2021.

Casteel let Jordin Branch and Sophia Penick run wild. Branch went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI, while Penick went 2-for-4 with one home run and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave Branch a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Winter Melendez, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.

Casteel's victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 7-14. As for Chandler, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 11 of their last 14 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-14 record this season.
