Softball Recap: Trinity Lutheran Gets the Win

Trinity Lutheran took a 13-run loss the last time they faced off against Hauser, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Cougars sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 win over the Jets on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Cougars have posted since May 14, 2024.

Grace Lance spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on 11 hits.

On the hitting side, Clark Branum was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Addie Burcham, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Trinity Lutheran kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.

The win made it two in a row for Trinity Lutheran and bumps their season record up to 3-10. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Hauser, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Trinity Lutheran will challenge Lanesville at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Hauser, they will square off against South Decatur at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
