Baseball Recap: Methuen Comes Up Short

Methuen fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against North Andover on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Scrlt Knights by a score of 6-5. The Rangers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Scrlt Knights apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2025.

Jeyvien Deleon led a balanced group of hitters, going 2-for-5 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. Jack Harper also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Methuen dropped their record down to 3-4 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the losses came by an average of only 1.33 runs. As for North Andover, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 4-3.

Looking ahead, Methuen will square off against Georgetown at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. As for North Andover, they will welcome Shepherd Hill Regional at 12:00 p.m. on Monday.
