Softball Recap: Espanola Valley Takes a Loss

Espanola Valley had lost nine straight at home dating back to last season, but on Saturday they dropped their record down to 4-16 to make it ten. They lost 17-1 to the Los Alamos Hilltoppers. Having soared to a lofty 14 runs in the game before, the Sundevils couldn't push the score so high this time.

Espanola Valley saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aliah Villalobos, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one double.

As for Los Alamos, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 14 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-5-1 record this season. The result was nothing new for Los Alamos, who have now won eight matches by six runs or more so far this season.

On Los Alamos' side, Reyana Naranjo was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave Naranjo a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Nakota Reed, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one double.

While Espanola Valley had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
